Woodfolk look after the forests of Talamhlar and all that lives within, guarding them against the ravages of ambitious folk. The most numerous (and active!) of the Woodfolk are the pixies, curious blue creatures with hedgehog-like quills. They stand scarcely a foot high but are, nevertheless, fierce fighters always eager for a scrap.

A Woodfolk warband makes good use of terrain, launching fierce assaults from trees and bushes. They can summon the spirits of wild elements to aid them and utilise camouflage and healing to keep their warriors in the fight.

Picking a Woodfolk warband for Shivershield involves making one selection from each 'Hearth'- Curadh (command), Eachraidh (Elite), Rinc and Fyrd.

Get some Woodfolk ideas from our designers' deep dive.

Start here

The Shivershield 2-player starter contains a full pixie warband to get you going. Alternatively, grab a Woodfolk starter set for a solid core band.

Personalise your leader

Your leader represents you on the tabletop, so pick the kind you want to be for your Curadh Hearth.

Add a specialist

Troops in the Eachraidh Hearth have special abilities to support your warriors.

Broaden your options

The Rinc and Fyrd Hearths are the core of your band. Try adding something not included in the starter set to give your warband more flavour.

Reinforce your band

More often than not it's the Fyrd Hearth that actually does the work. Make sure you have enough regular troops!

Bring in some allies

Something missing from your lineup? You might be able to find it in one of the other folk types you can ally with.
